Tis the season for super crazy awesome stuff. Take Secret Santa, for example – Reddit held a massive one with its users, and one lucky gal got her gift from the real Santa – Bill Gates. The jolly ol’ nerd gave her a book, a stuffed cow and a donation to in her honor, as well as a photo proving that it was him. So cool. Also hot on the Interwebs: Google has bought a fleet of military super robots, and two guys built a full-sized working hot rod out of Legos.

Hop on the learning train: hot and fresh from our experts is a new POV outlining the benefits of e-detailing.

What do consumers want from EMRs, you ask? Accenture releases the latest stats on global consumer wants and needs, including that the top desire for EHRs is to be able to book and change appointments (82%), receive reminders (76%) and refill prescriptions (73%). And while most (95%) want at least some access to their medical records, 61% report they don’t have it currently.

IBM predicts that within five years, all doctors will use patient DNA to help diagnose and care for them. This is one of the firm’s top 5 predictions for the next 5 years, which also includes the death of passwords (yippee!)
