The Scoop – Digital and Mobile Use Up | NPs in NY | Weird Doctor News April 4, 2014

Digital is about to make up around one-quarter of total media ad spending around the world, according to a new eMarketer report.

Mobile usage is up – way up – with people averaging almost three hours per day on their device. Notably, only about 20 minutes of that time is spent in a browser, the rest is spent on apps. This article shared by Michelle Potts, Senior Director, Buying Services & Deliverables, features a chart that shows where users are spending the most time.

NPs can practice independently in New York thanks to new legislation that will pass this week and take effect at the start of 2015 (thanks CMIO Susan Dorfman for this story.)

Today in weird doctor news: 2/3 of doctors polled are in favor of medical marijuana – that’s not so weird I guess, but I was surprised that I’d ever include an article from “Hemp News” in the Scoop. In other weird doctor news, what happens at HIMSS apparently doesn’t stay at HIMSS – not in our YouTube age anyway…a doctor dressed up like Elton John and sang a parody song about issues in the hospital.
