The Scoop – Mobile Predictions | Hamburg Stepping Down | Patients and Pharma February 5, 2015

Forrester’s annual mobile predictions report is now available, and Michele Sirkin explains what this means for pharma: “With mobile usage higher than ever, doctors and patients are empowered and seeking information on their phones and tablets. If pharma brands aren’t working to break the barriers and be present on mobile, they are missing out on huge opportunities.”

FDA Commissioner Dr. Margaret Hamburg may be resigning.

A survey by Accenture found that patients not only want to hear from pharma – they expect (76%) that pharma will be providing them information about their products. And, 74% specifically want to hear from pharma when they begin taking a medication (hello, adherence helpers?)

They’re wealthy, they’re educated, and they think kids get too many shots – a look at anti-vaxxers by the numbers shows that most are covered by insurance and though they’re mostly college-educated, they still believe vaccines cause autism.

Apple’s HealthKit pilot seems to be going well and has been adopted by at least a dozen hospitals.

A new report says lung cancer – not breast cancer – is the number 1 killer of women in wealthy countries.
