Medscape’s 2015 Physician Compensation Report gives a pretty comprehensive look at salary by specialty, location, gender and other factors, as well as how they feel about their compensation, how much time they spend with patients, and more. It’s a wealth of information. Click to see which specialties would choose a career in medicine if they had to do it all again. Thanks to Chief Commercial Officer Dr. Susan Dorfman for this story.
Mother’s Day ad win of the day: let me tell you something right now – if this ad doesn’t make tears stream down your face, then I don’t know what. Holy moly good job Huggies. A mother-to-be who has been blind since age 17 asks her doctor to describe her baby’s face because she cannot see the ultrasound. Little does she know the image is being 3D printed for her. The moment when she gets to feel the image is unbelievable. Go buy a box of Huggies right this minute! (And if you don’t have a baby, send them to me, size 3, thank you very much.) Thanks to Associate Media Director Melissa Wackes for this story.
Mobile news of the day: according to SEM Supervisor Shyam Desai: In a move that shouldn’t be too surprising, Google is leveraging the ever-increasing popularity of mobile search by developing interactive swipeable paid search ads. For industries that rely heavily on consumers to shop by viewing images/rates (hotels, automotive, insurance), these new ad formats are expected to significantly improve customer engagement. This won’t be affecting the pharma vertical, and notably, pharma advertisers would be blocked from appearing on these types of ad formats. Google has stated that mobile searches have surpassed PC searches in 10 countries, including the United States. Additionally, the fact that Google is putting investment and R&D behind mobile-specific ad formats only further emphasizes that development of mobile-friendly sites and mobile paid search should be a part of every marketing plan in 2015 and beyond.
Meme of the day: Ryan Gosling finally eats his cereal. I actually missed this hilarious Vine meme series the first time around, but now it means even more as the young creator of “Ryan Gosling Won’t Eat His Cereal” has died of cancer, and RG makes a tribute to him.
