It’s National Nurses Week! Did you know that nurse practitioners tend to be very welcoming of information from and interaction with pharma? Our Media Vitals data offers some pretty interesting insights about this group.

Social campaign of the day: Instagram a photo of your feet and use the hashtag #withoutshoes and TOMS will donate a pair of shoes to someone in need.  Why I like it – it’s easy for people to do, and it spreads their core message in a memorable way.

A cancer survivor has designed a set of greeting cards that she wishes people had sent her – and they’re brilliant.

Innovation of the day: a team of researchers have developed an app that detects deadly parasites.

In his essay America’s Epidemic of Unnecessary Care, “Low Value Healthcare” is what Atul Gawande calls it when patients receive a lot of tests, many unnecessary. He cites situations where CT scans are given for unremarkable headaches, and where major tests are conducted before a doctor even sits down to take a patient’s history.

The much-anticipated virtual reality headset Oculus Rift will be launching early, Q1 2016. Until then it’s just actual reality for you.
